It’s Summer!! Are you at RISK?

Summer is the hottest of the four seasons. Who cares, its vacation time. Are you planning to hit the beach to get yourself tanned? Then, this blog is for you!

Summer isn't a good time for your skin. We all know that the sun gives us heat and light. Do you know what else it gives?

Shocked! Let’s see in detail!

First will understand the UVA and UVB differences:

UVA light has a longer wave that penetrates the thickest layer of skin, called the dermis. Unprotected exposure to UVA rays can lead to skin aging, wrinkles, and a suppressed immune system.

UVB rays have a shorter wave. It causes sunburn and also responsible to cause Skin cancer.
So UVB is the culprit. He is responsible for SKIN CANCER!

(OMG! I already exposed so much…Do I Have Skin Cancer?)

If you have any of the below symptoms don’t wait to consult a DERMATOLOGIST!
  • Smooth and pearly skin
  • Appear as a firm, red lump or may look sunken in the middle
  • Appear as a pearly brown or black lump if you have darker skin
  • Itchy feeling which bleeds easily
  • Develops a crust or scab
  • Begin to heal but never completely heal
  • Look like a flat, red spot that is scaly and crusty

Prevention is better than cure. Here comes the tip session to avoid SKIN CANCER:
  • Seek the shade, particularly between 10 am and 4 pm
  • Don’t get too sunburnt
  • Avoid tanning and never use UV tanning beds
  • Cover up with clothing including a broad-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses
  • Apply 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) of sunscreen to the entire body 30 minutes before going outside and reapply every two hours after swimming or excessive sweating
  • Keep new-born and babies out of the sun
  • Examine your skin head-to-toe every month
  • See a dermatologist at least once a year

Take care of your skin and health…Have a happy Summer!!
